Kerala High Court gets 6 new judges, strength goes up to 41
The functioning strength of the Kerala High Court reached 41 on Friday after the swearing-in of six lawyers as additional judges of the High Court.
Chief Justice AJ Desai administered the oath of office to the new judges, who were all elevated directly from the bar.
In the order of seniority, these new judges are Mullappally Abdul Aziz Abdul Hakhim, Syam Kumar Vadakke Mudavakkat; Harisankar Vijayan Menon; Manu Sreedharan Nair; Easwaran Subramani; and Manoj Pulamby Madhavan.
They will serve in their posts for a period of two years from today following which they may or may not be made permanent judges of the High Court.
The High Court now has the functioning strength of 41 judges against a sanctioned strength of 47, with six vacancies.
In the order of seniority, these new judges are Mullappally Abdul Aziz Abdul Hakhim, Syam Kumar Vadakke Mudavakkat, Harisankar Vijayan Menon, Manu Sreedharan Nair, Easwaran Subramani, and Manoj Pulamby Madhavan.
They will serve in their posts for a period of two years from March 22, following which they may or may not be made permanent judges of the High Court.

On March 12, 2024, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the elevation of six advocates as additional judges of the Kerala High Court.
The Central government notified their appointment on March 21.
The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice said that in exercise of the power conferred by Clause(1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President was pleased to appoint Mullappally Abdul Aziz Abdul Hakhim, Syam Kumar Vadakke Mudavakkat, Harisankar Vijayan Menon, Manu Sreedharan Nair, Easwaran Subramani and Manoj Pulamby Madhavan, to be Additional Judges, of the Kerala High Court, in that order of seniority, for a period of two years, with effect from the date they assumed the charge of their respective offices
